Two ways to go.

There can be two ways, that I know of, to view things.

When someone is better than us, in which ever way, we can :

-either emulate them and be what is admirable or
-we can resent them, hate them, hurt them and become ugly.

When we're low, when life is going in the exact opposite way that we foresaw for ourselves, we can :

- Look at those below us, far worse than we are, and feel good about ourselves or
- we can look at those above us and feel even more frustrated.

When we're feeling cocky, self satisfied and arrogant and someone points it out we can

-Think of them as a real friend who cares more about YOU than of what you will think of them or
-Feel hurt, Angry and Avoid them thereafter.

When we think we know it all, have it all we can :

-Look at those below us and turn into even bigger know it alls and thus impede our own progress or
-Look at those above us and realise how much we still have to achieve...look at the scope for improvement.

When someone treats us badly we can :

-Follow tit for tat and be just like them or
-Be the bigger person and learn how Not to be like them.

When someone we love dumps us we can

-Learn a lesson, from both our mistakes and never repeat them, never compromise with ourself.
-Call him/her/it names and get drunk and have unsafe sex with strangers. Then choose similar losers once sober.

When Mom / dad scold we can :

-Yell "I hate you!", sulk, not talk, not eat or
-Realise s/he's the only one in the world who will never, ever leave us or wish us harm. And Try to see the wisdom or their words 'cos take it from me, they're always right. [don't tell them I said so though.]

Ahhh... the Yin-yang, good-bad, right-wrong syndrome. To be or not to be? That is THE question of all times.

Which road to take at the crossroads of life. For what is life but a series of choices that we make. Some good some bad.

But then everyone must find it out for themselves that there are no right answers. I must have quoted this to you before (for its my fav. and I use it on every possible occasion :D):

There are 3 things that you can do for any situation in life:
1. To do the right thing
2. To do the wrong thing
3. To do the thing, you'll ultimately land up doing.

Because everything we do always lies in that gray area.

Good luck with the choices you decide to make.

Well, after a second reading :

Don't think too much, do what suits you best at that moment and you'll save the regret! Go with your gut and live life to the fullest. Now that does not mean that we stop thinking completely... But yeah, try to strike a balance!

All the best!

The pic explains it all..
Its not that easy to balance and roll for a long time.. we fall on either side get up again and try to balance.. it is all that matters!

Nice thought!

@Aniket : I hate grey areas...I mean i can understand their significance with respect to human behaviour but not always wrt choices we make. We always know, within [conscience talks] whether what we're doing is right or wrong...

@Satan's Darling: Wow you read this twicE?! Am so pleased. But u said it all...IF you go with your gut, you wont regret it :)

@Laddu : Glad to hear it...stick around!

@Miss cynical Anu : Firstly i love the font of ur nickname :) next, ur right...we do fall aside...but the point is, we must get up and move on!

well Dok, a good one ,as always :)
But in life there's not always a two sides of a coin, not every time a black and white.
like :
When someone treats us badly we can :
-Follow tit for tat and be just like them or
-Be the bigger person and learn how Not to be like them.
I see a third option, be not like them but give them a good piece of mind.
When Mom / dad scold we can :

My child will Yell "I hate you!", sulk, not talk, not eat and then realise we are the only one in the world who will never, ever leave him or wish him harm

@sajith : :P our secret...welcome to my blog btw :)

coffeeismypoison said...

@Dok saab : HEY Sir! Somehow i cannot imagine you giving anyone a piece of ur mind. I'd say u were too polite to do so.

coffeeismypoison said...

@Zeba : Well Zeba the pressure seems to be mounting ! I dont know whether to be flattered/scared by ur speechlessness... :o)
As for the Doc post, Heres what u can do...
I graduated from KMC,manipal-2001 batch. If u go to the library, ul see theres a softboard known as "The wall"... Perhaps you could get the editor of the wall to post this there...I owe my college a lot. and i used to write for the wall occasionally but now im out of touch...for quite awhile. I think it would perk up the moods of quite a few docs who slog long hours in the hospital and library :o) I'd appreciat it a lot.

Good analysis,

specifically the one about mom/dad, unfortunately it is quite impossible to think that way when I was a kid. Cmon, really? I think all these wonderful thoughts only come years later, but I think its still fine as long as we make it a point to tell our parents that. :) I actually wrote a post about something similar years ago and sent it to my mom!

coffeeismypoison said...

@Pesto Sauce : Really? Yoga?

@SSQuo : You're right. No kid understands...I'm not a kid which is why i do get it now :) better late than never eh? That was a sweet thing you did telling your mom BTW :o) mine would scold me for wasting time writing Lol.
